Kobe Port Tower tickets start at $6 on GetYourGuide, where the Port Tower Admission Ticket is rated 4.5 from 67 reviews and is the only listing with reviews. The observation deck is 90.8 m up, per Wikipedia. Google Maps shows the tower open 9 am to 11 pm, so I’d go about an hour before sunset and stay for the lights. The two guided tours, at $76 and $80, are day trips from Osaka and not plain entry.

I looked at every one of the Kobe Port Tower tickets that I could book through GetYourGuide right now. There are three listings, and only one of them is a simple ticket for the tower itself. Prices, ratings and inclusions come from the listings in US dollars, checked in October 2026, and the official yen prices come from the tower’s own ticket page. Links open GetYourGuide in a new tab, and I earn a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you.
The red steel tower stands on the Kobe waterfront in Meriken Park and is one of the best known landmarks of the port. Before you buy Kobe Port Tower tickets, these are the numbers I check first, each with its source where the data has one.
| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| Decks | Observation floors up to the 5th floor, plus a glass-walled open-air rooftop deck reached by stairs, per the GetYourGuide listing |
| Cafe and bar | On the 3rd observation floor, per the official ticket page; the listing describes a rotating floor |
| Address | 5-5 Hatobacho, Chuo Ward, Kobe, Hyogo 650-0042, per Google Maps |
| Opening hours | 9 am to 11 pm every day, per Google Maps |
| Time to allow | No limit once you are in: the official page says a ticket fixes your entry time, not your stay |
| Google rating | 4.2 from 12,030 reviews, per Google Maps |
Hours change for maintenance and private events, and the official page says entry can be refused on those days, so check the official site before you travel. Fireworks nights can also limit entry when the observation floors get crowded, according to the same page. Wikipedia sums up why the tower matters to the city.
The sightseeing tower was completed in 1963 and was temporarily closed from late 2009 to 28 April 2010 and again from 27 September 2021 to 26 April 2024 for renovation.
Kobe Port Tower observation deck tickets come as a single product on GetYourGuide: the Port Tower Admission Ticket from LINKTIVITY Inc. It is a standard ticket, not a tour, so there is no guide and no fixed itinerary, and of all the Kobe Port Tower tickets it is the simplest. The listing says it covers the observation floors up to the 5th floor and also names the rooftop deck, which you reach by climbing stairs from the 5th floor to a glass-walled open-air space with a 360-degree view.
The listing’s inclusion list also shows hotel pickup, food and souvenirs, which does not fit a $6 entry ticket, so I would not count on any of them. One reviewer wrote that the view from the top needs an additional fee. That matches the official ticket page, which sells the rooftop deck as an add-on to the observation floors. Read the voucher text before you travel, and keep in mind that these Kobe Port Tower tickets are non-refundable.

When I compare Kobe Port Tower tickets, the gap between the listings is the main story. The entry ticket is $6. The Kobe Highlights Tour with Chinatown and Port Tower costs $80 for a five-hour private guided day from Osaka. It is a tour that includes an admission ticket, but the itinerary lists the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, Kobe Chinatown, Meriken Park and Harborland Mosaic. The tower appears as a photo stop in Meriken Park, and the listing does not say that you go up it.
So the extra $74 buys a guide, the earthquake museum and the Chinatown street food, not a better view. The tour lists English and Japanese, includes a local guide, and has free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. It has no ratings yet, so I treat it as untested.

MARKEVISION株式会社
My pick: Book it if you want the story of Kobe's 1995 earthquake with a guide, and check the tower visit separately: $80, five hours from Osaka, free cancellation.

Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.
The tower sells its own Kobe Port Tower tickets too. The official ticket page lists 1,200 yen for an adult with the observation floors and the rooftop deck, and 1,000 yen for the observation floors alone, including 10 percent tax. Children from elementary to junior high pay 500 yen or 400 yen, and children below school age are free. I have not converted those yen prices into dollars, because the rate moves, so compare them with the $6 on the day you book.
The observation deck price depends on how you buy and which floors you want, and Kobe Port Tower tickets vary more than you would expect. The cheapest route on GetYourGuide is the $6 entry ticket. The official page adds half price for visitors aged 65 and over and for holders of a disability certificate, and half price for Kobe residents in their birthday month. Groups of 15 or more pay a lower rate, but they have to book at least two weeks ahead through the tower’s form. Among the Kobe Port Tower tickets sold officially, an annual pass costs 4,000 yen for an adult, with a 500 yen food coupon for the cafe, and I would only buy it if you live nearby or plan several visits in a year, because it allows one entry per day.
The third GetYourGuide listing, the Nada Sake Tasting, Chinatown and Port Tower Guided Tour, costs $76 for 4.5 hours. It begins at Umeda Station in Osaka and stops at the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum for a guided tasting, then Kobe Chinatown, Meriken Park and Harborland Mosaic. It lists a local guide and nothing else as included, and as on the other tour, the tower is something you photograph from the park. I would book it for the sake, not for the tower.

My pick: Pick this if sake and street food matter more than the climb: $76, 4.5 hours from Osaka, free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead.

Reviews tell me that Kobe Port Tower tickets are a safe, modest buy. The Port Tower Admission Ticket is rated 4.5 from 67 reviews on GetYourGuide, and Google Maps rates the tower itself 4.2 from 12,030 reviews. Neither guided tour has a rating yet, which is why I recommend them for the itinerary and not for proven quality.
The comments I trust most describe the visit and not the score. People mention that it was not crowded, that the staff were friendly, and that going early helps. One cruise passenger wrote that the tower was a short walk from where the ship tied up beside the Oriental Hotel. A different reviewer found it hard to tell how to get down because few staff were at the lifts, so follow the signs on your way out.
Nice Tower! Beautiful view. Not crowded. Highly recommended!
My reading on Kobe Port Tower tickets: the Google score is lower than the GetYourGuide score because Google covers everyone who walks past the tower, and GetYourGuide covers people who bought the ticket and went up.
The tower is 108 m tall according to Wikidata, which also lists nine floors, the architect Nikken Sekkei and an opening year of 1963. The observation deck sits lower, at 90.8 m in Wikipedia’s list of public observation decks. That is high enough to look over the harbour, Meriken Park and the city centre, but it is far below the big towers in Tokyo, and I would not book it expecting that scale.
The shape is the first thing you notice. The listing describes a hyperboloid structure of red steel, and from the park the narrow waist makes it look lighter than it is. Because the tower was renovated until April 2024, its observation floors are newer than the structure around them.
There is a cafe and bar on the 3rd observation floor, according to the official ticket page, and the GetYourGuide listing describes it as having a 360-degree rotating floor. I would treat it as a place for a drink with the view and not as a meal stop. The annual pass comes with a 500 yen coupon for it, which tells you the cafe is meant to be part of the visit.
Your Kobe Port Tower tickets do not cover meals. For a proper meal I’d walk out to Kobe Harborland or Nankinmachi, both within 0.6 km, where Google Maps shows thousands of reviews. Nankinmachi is also the place for the street food the two tours include, such as pork buns and dumplings. Food and drink cannot be taken onto the rooftop deck, so finish your coffee before you climb the stairs.
The tower is in Chuo Ward in the city of Kobe, in Hyogo Prefecture, on the main island of Honshu. Kobe is about 27 km from Osaka by straight line, which is why both guided tours start from Umeda Station and not from Kobe. If you are building a Japan trip around views and collecting tickets for observation decks, the nearest decks on this site are in Osaka: Umeda Sky Building and Abeno Harukas. Tokyo is about 425 km away.
Kobe Port Tower is a smaller, calmer stop than those, and Kobe Port Tower tickets are cheaper, which I like. Wikipedia notes that the tower closed twice for renovation, the second time from September 2021 to April 2024. That means anything older than spring 2024, including some travel blogs, may describe a different tower. The reopened one has the rooftop deck and the light-themed museum the listing mentions.
Winter is the clearest. In the 2025 Open-Meteo data, January had the lowest average cloud cover at 38%, followed by November at 39% and December at 41%. The cloudiest months were May at 77% and June at 72%, with September at 68%. August had the most rainy days, 19. Sunset runs from 16:49 in December to 19:13 in June.

Sunset and cloud cover for the same dates in 2025 at the deck (Open-Meteo historical weather (ERA5), 2025); sunset moves by about a minute between years.
With Kobe Port Tower tickets for the evening, I would arrive 45 to 60 minutes before sunset. In December that means going up at about four in the afternoon, and in June at about six. The tower stays open until 11 pm per Google Maps, so you can watch the harbour switch from daylight to lights without rushing. The rooftop deck can close in rain or strong wind, so a clear winter evening is the safest bet for Kobe Port Tower tickets.

Meriken Park is right below you at 0.2 km (0.1 miles), with the BE KOBE Monument at 0.3 km (0.2 miles) and Kobe Harborland at 0.4 km (0.3 miles). Nankinmachi, Kobe’s Chinatown, is 0.6 km (0.4 miles) away and Kobe City Museum 0.8 km (0.5 miles). Higashi Yuenchi is 1.1 km (0.7 miles) away. Kitano Ijinkan-Gai, the old foreign residences district, is 2.0 km (1.3 miles) and the Nunobiki Herb Gardens 2.5 km (1.6 miles), set against the hills behind the city.
Kobe has several viewpoints on the Rokko hills behind the city, and they give a very different view from the harbour tower. Ratings and review counts are from Google Maps, distances are straight-line from the tower, and I have not stated which ones are free because the data does not say.

The hill viewpoints look down on the city and the bay from above, while Kobe Port Tower looks across the harbour from the water’s edge. If you have time for only one, I would use my Kobe Port Tower tickets and go up the tower for the harbour and Meriken Park at your feet. In Osaka, Umeda Sky Building and Abeno Harukas are both about 27 km away.
The official ticket page lists 1,200 yen for an adult with the observation floors and the rooftop deck, and 1,000 yen for the observation floors alone. Children from elementary to junior high pay 500 or 400 yen, and under-school-age children are free. On GetYourGuide, the Port Tower Admission Ticket costs $6.
Go up to the observation floors, then climb the stairs to the open-air rooftop deck for the 360-degree view. The listing also mentions a light-themed museum and a cafe and bar with a rotating floor. Outside, Meriken Park, Kobe Harborland and Nankinmachi are all within about 0.6 km.
Yes, when a time slot has space. The official ticket page says the ground-floor ticket desk sells same-day tickets only for slots that are not full, and that online tickets can be bought from the day itself up to 60 days ahead. On a weekend or holiday I would book online.
For the price, I think so. The Port Tower Admission Ticket is $6, rated 4.5 from 67 reviews, and reviewers call the view beautiful and the tower uncrowded. Google Maps rates the tower 4.2 from 12,030 reviews. It is lower than Tokyo's big towers, so expect a harbour view, not a skyline.
The tower is 108 m tall, which matters little when you buy Kobe Port Tower tickets, according to Wikidata, and its observation deck is at 90.8 m according to Wikipedia's list of public observation decks. From that height the horizon is about 34 km away. It was completed in 1963 and reopened on 26 April 2024 after a renovation.
Yes. The official ticket page says the rooftop deck can close without notice in rain or strong wind, and that wheelchair users cannot enter it because it is reached by stairs. If you buy the observation floor ticket first, you can add the rooftop deck at its entrance.
I would arrive 45 to 60 minutes before sunset. In the 2025 Open-Meteo data the clearest months were January at 38 percent cloud cover and November at 39 percent, and sunset ran from 16:49 in December to 19:13 in June. Google Maps lists opening hours of 9 am to 11 pm.
