Sapporo TV Tower Tickets – view from the observation deck over Odori Park and the Sapporo cityscape

Sapporo TV Tower tickets start at $7.59 on GetYourGuide, where the one listing is a skip-the-line admission rated 4.59 from 41 reviews. The deck is about 90 m up on a 147.2 m tower at the end of Odori Park, and I’d go an hour before sunset.

I checked every Sapporo TV Tower ticket, tour and pass on GetYourGuide in October 2026, and there is one. This page is short on options and long on what to check. Prices are in US dollars, and ratings and review counts come straight from the listing. Links open GetYourGuide in a new tab, and I earn a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. Because the tower sells its own admission at the door, I also give you the official price, which is quoted in yen.

Sapporo TV Tower at a Glance

Sapporo TV Tower Observation Deck Tickets

Among Sapporo TV Tower observation deck tickets, there is one on GetYourGuide, and it is a plain admission: the Sapporo TV Tower Admission Ticket from HANATOUR JAPAN CO.,LTD. for $7.59. It is a skip-the-line ticket with a 24-hour validity, and the rating is 4.59 from 41 reviews.

What it includes is one thing, the skip-the-line admission to the tower. Food and drinks are not included. You get an emailed QR code, and the listing says to go to the 3rd floor and exchange it at the ticket office, then take the elevator up to the 295-foot (90 m) deck in 60 seconds. It is a ticket for the deck only, with no guide, no tour and no extras.

The listing is non-refundable, so buy these Sapporo TV Tower tickets once your date is firm. Several reviewers said the voucher arrived within minutes, which helps if you decide on the day.

Cheaper than buying ticket at the door. Instant delivery.

Sapporo TV Tower Tickets and Prices

There is nothing to compare on the marketplace, because there is one product. So the useful comparison for Sapporo TV Tower tickets bought online is against the door. The official price page lists an adult (high school and older) at 1,200 yen and an elementary or junior high student at 600 yen, with children under elementary age free. Sapporo city residents pay less for their tickets for the Sapporo TV Tower, and a group rate applies from 15 people.

I have not converted the yen figure, because exchange rates move, so compare the two on the day. A reviewer says the online price beat the door, which is a reason to check before you queue.

The official site also sells other Sapporo TV Tower tickets that GetYourGuide does not: a day and night pair at 1,700 yen for an adult, valid for 3 days, and a one-year passport at 2,000 yen. If you plan two visits, the day and night pair is worth a look. The same page lists a birthday perk of free entry within 3 days either side of your birthday.

For a group, the planner shows the total for the booking link.

Prices are the lowest per-person prices on GetYourGuide when I last checked; the final price depends on the date, time slot and age.

Sapporo TV Tower Night

Evening is when I’d use my Sapporo TV Tower tickets, and a ticket for the Sapporo TV Tower works the same after dark. The tower is open until 22:00, with the last entry at 21:50 per the official site, so a night visit is easy. The official site also lists a lighting schedule for the tower itself, which changes with the season, so look there for the evening you are going.

In the 2025 weather data from Open-Meteo, sunset fell at 15:59 in December and 19:15 in June. In winter dusk comes before 4 PM, so you can see the lit city and still eat dinner early. I’d arrive 45 to 60 minutes before sunset and stay for the first hour of darkness.

Sapporo TV Tower Entrance Fee

The entrance fee at the door, for walk-up Sapporo TV Tower tickets, is 1,200 yen for an adult and 600 yen for a student in elementary or junior high school, according to the official site. Children under elementary age enter free. Residents of Sapporo pay 800 yen and must show proof of address, and residents aged 70 or over pay 400 yen. Disability discounts exist, with a carer for each person at half the standard fee. Bring a card, because the site says cashless payment is accepted.

The GetYourGuide ticket at $7.59 skips the queue at the ticket window, since you only exchange the code. For most travellers it is the simplest way to buy Sapporo TV Tower tickets.

Sapporo TV Tower Height

The whole tower is 147.2 m tall, a figure that Wikidata and Wikipedia agree on. It opened in 1957 and has five floors, and Wikidata names Tachū Naitō as the architect. Visitors reach the deck at about 90 m, not the full height.

At that height the horizon is roughly 33.9 km away, which is the distance the calculator further down works out. For Sapporo TV Tower tickets, that is the number that explains why the deck shows Odori Park laid out like a ruler below you.

Sapporo TV Tower Opening Hours

With any of the Sapporo TV Tower tickets above, the deck is open 9:00 to 22:00 per the official site, with the last entry at 21:50. Google Maps lists 9 AM to 10 PM on every day of the week. The official site warns that hours can change for events, and it listed whole-building maintenance closures on a few dates in 2025 and on 1 January 2026.

So for evening visits with Sapporo TV Tower tickets, plan to be at the ticket office well before 21:50. I’d check the official site for your date before you travel.

Sapporo TV Tower Restaurant

The listing says nothing about food, and the ticket does not include it: food and drinks are marked as not included. One GetYourGuide reviewer wrote that there are little restaurants and a souvenir shop in the tower, and the official site names a gourmet court in the basement, which closes with the rest of the building on maintenance days. I could not confirm which restaurants run today or what they charge, so I won’t describe a menu.

If you want a bigger meal, Tanukikoji Shopping Street is 0.53 km (0.33 miles) from the tower in a straight line, and it is rated 4.2 from 18,040 reviews on Google Maps. Most people eat there before or after the deck rather than plan around it.

Where Is the Sapporo TV Tower Located

The tower is at the east end of Odori Park in the Chuo Ward of central Sapporo, at 1 Chome Odorinishi, per Google Maps. The park itself is 0.17 km (0.11 miles) away. The Sapporo Clock Tower is 0.29 km (0.18 miles) from the tower, so tickets to the Sapporo TV Tower and the Clock Tower pair well, and the official site says it is a 5 to 7 minute walk, not counting visiting time. JR Tower, next to Sapporo Station, is 0.88 km (0.55 miles) away.

That makes the tower an easy pairing with a Clock Tower visit on the same morning. The official site has also sold a shared Clock Tower and TV Tower ticket, but its sale period on the page I read had ended, so check it for current dates.

Best Time to Visit Sapporo TV Tower

Cloud cover decides how good the view is from your Sapporo TV Tower ticket. In the 2025 weather data from Open-Meteo, September, October and November are the clearest months, each at 64% average cloud cover. December is the cloudiest at 78%, and March and April follow at 74%. July is the sunniest, at 10.4 hours a day, and September has the fewest rainy days, at 10.

Sunset and cloud cover for the same dates in 2025 at the deck (Open-Meteo historical weather (ERA5), 2025); sunset moves by about a minute between years.

My rule is to arrive 45 to 60 minutes before sunset. The earliest sunset is 15:59 in December and the latest is 19:15 in June. For Sapporo TV Tower tickets I like September or October, when the cloud is lowest and the sunset falls between 16:52 and 17:44.

The deck also looks over Odori Park during the Sapporo Snow Festival, and one GetYourGuide reviewer said they got in without problems in February. I have no dated source for the festival, so check the official festival site for this year’s dates before you plan around it.

What You Can See From Sapporo TV Tower

The deck looks down the length of Odori Park, and the listing says to look out for seasonal flowers there, and for festivals such as the Yosakoi Soran Festival, the Sapporo Snow Festival and White Illumination.

Sapporo TV Tower vs Other Observation Decks in Sapporo

Sapporo TV Tower tickets open the deck in the middle of the park, and Sapporo has several other viewpoints. Ratings and review counts are from Google Maps, and distances are straight-line from the tower.

Deck Google rating Reviews Distance Cost
Sapporo TV Tower 4.1 17,303 the deck itself Paid
JR Tower Observatory T38 4.5 2,766 0.85 km (0.53 mi) Check locally
Sapporo City Observatory 4.5 396 1.79 km (1.11 mi) Check locally
Mt. Moiwa Summit Observation Deck 4.5 4,213 5.13 km (3.19 mi) Check locally
Okurayama Viewing Point 4.4 703 5.85 km (3.64 mi) Check locally

The one I’d add to Sapporo TV Tower tickets is JR Tower Observatory T38, the closest at 0.85 km and rated higher on Google Maps. Mt. Moiwa is the pick if you want a hillside view that looks back over the whole city.

How I’d Choose

Frequently asked questions

Can you go up to Sapporo TV Tower?

Yes. The public observation deck is open to tourists, according to Wikipedia, and sits at about 90 m on a 147.2 m tower. Tickets are sold on the 3rd floor, and the GetYourGuide voucher at $7.59 is exchanged at that same ticket office. The elevator ride up takes about 60 seconds, per the listing.

How much does it cost to go up Sapporo TV Tower?

The official site lists 1,200 yen for an adult and 600 yen for elementary and junior high students, with children under elementary age free. The only GetYourGuide listing is a skip-the-line admission at $7.59 in US dollars. Check the exchange rate on the day, because I have not converted the yen price.

What time does Sapporo TV Tower open and close?

The official site gives 9:00 to 22:00, with the last entry to the deck at 21:50, and says hours can change for events. Google Maps shows 9 AM to 10 PM every day. The site also lists a few full-day maintenance closures, so check it for your date.

Where is Sapporo TV Tower located?

It stands at the east end of Odori Park in central Sapporo, at 1 Chome Odorinishi, Chuo Ward, per Google Maps. The Sapporo Clock Tower is 0.29 km away in a straight line, and JR Tower is 0.88 km. The ticket office is on the 3rd floor of the tower.

What is the best time to visit Sapporo TV Tower?

I'd arrive 45 to 60 minutes before sunset and stay into the dark. In 2025 weather data from Open-Meteo, sunset ranged from 15:59 in December to 19:15 in June. September, October and November had the lowest average cloud cover, at 64%, so autumn evenings are my pick.

How tall is Sapporo TV Tower?

Wikidata and Wikipedia give 147.2 m for the whole tower, built in 1957. Visitors do not go that high. The observation deck is at about 90 m, which the GetYourGuide listing also gives as 295 feet, reached by a 60-second elevator ride from the 3rd floor.
